These are the folks who could get the most from working with you and you like working with - what I call your "bullseye clients"

I know exactly who my ideal client is and all my services are specifically designed to get them the results they’re seeking.

I have an idea of who my ideal client is, but I still accept almost any client that comes my way.

I'm open to working with pretty much anyone - I just need more clients!

How familiar are you with the language your ideal clients use to describe their pains, problems, goals, and desires?*

And if you do know these words and phrases, how frequently are you using them in your marketing and sales efforts?

I have a system for collecting the actual language my ideal clients use. I consistently use their words in all of my marketing and sales processes.

I don’t have a good system to capture the words my ideal clients use. I try to use some of these words in my marketing sometimes, but it’s a struggle.

I market myself primarily by talking about what I do. I haven’t really thought about including words my ideal clients use in my marketing.

Are you collecting before-and-after stories of clients’ results?*

I collect detailed testimonials from every successful client and I have a good set of guidelines to make sure they’re detailed about their transformation. Once I have them, I use these everywhere!

I do ask clients for testimonials fairly regularly, but it’s not super structured. Usually their testimonials just talk about how great I am to work with and I just put these on my website.

I have a few client testimonials but I don’t have a system for asking clients to share their transformation.

Have you packaged your services into a clear process that takes your clients from where they are now to where they want to be?*

I have a well-designed program or treatment plan to help my clients achieve specific goals. There is a clear process and timeline to work with me and clients don’t buy sessions, they enroll in the program.

I have a sense of what my clients journey would look like to achieve their goals, but I’m still offering single sessions or a pack of sessions, even though in my mind there’s a plan.

No - I currently sell individual sessions or packs of sessions. In each session I figure out what I’m doing based on what’s going on with the client on that day.

Are your services priced profitably?*

Yup! I’ve calculated profitable pricing by taking into consideration my business expenses, my pay, my profit goals and my ideal schedule. I know I’m priced where I need to be to reach my financial goals.

I don’t think so? I’ve raised my prices over time, but I’ve never sat down to really figure this out. I’m making it work, but vacations or unexpected expenses put a strain on my income.

I have no idea! I priced my services based on what other people were charging and/or what I think my market will pay. I take home whatever is left after paying my bills.

Are you getting regular and consistent new leads for your services?*

And if so, do you have a set system that you’re using to make sure these leads keep coming?

Yes, I have several lead generation strategies in place that I know work, and a few of them are automated or outsourced. I have the consistent lead flow I need.

I have a few strategies I’m using that regularly bring me leads, although I’m not sure what’s working and what’s not.

I don’t have a specific system to get new leads. The ones I do get are unpredictable and usually from word of mouth. I definitely need more leads.

Once a new lead comes in, are you consistently nurturing them until they’re ready to work with you?*

Yes, I send regular nurturing emails to my list of leads and past clients to talk about how I can help with their goals and invite them to talk further with me. I also have a system for nurturing my leads manually or on social media.

I do have an email list set up, and all my leads and past clients are there, but I don’t use it regularly and I don’t have a system to stay in touch with leads manually or via social media.

No, if a lead doesn’t become a client right away, I don’t have ways to stay in touch with them. I don’t have any systems for this.

Do you think your leads understand the power and complexity of your work and how it’s unique or different?*

I have a whole framework that beautifully translates the complex work I do into exactly the language that my audience and market understands. It makes them want to work with me!

I’ve figured out some ways to talk about my work that seems to land with people sometimes, but it’s hit or miss whether a prospective client really ‘gets’ it.

This is a challenge for me. I don’t know how to explain what I do without losing them. I know if I could talk about it better, more people would be interested.

How frequently do you experience no-shows and cancellations, or leads and clients that ghost?*

I haven’t had a no-show in a long time.

Not very often, I’d say about once a month.

About once a week at least - it’s super frustrating.

Do you have any filters or steps in place to pre-qualify the leads you talk to?*

I have a system that makes sure prospective clients are a good fit for me and the work I do. I don’t book any services with a prospect, even a free consultation, unless they are qualified.

I try to have a conversation with every prospective new client to make sure we have a fit.

No. Anyone can book online with me.

Do you have a set sales process that reliably converts your leads into clients?*

Yes. I have a set process that goes through consultation, determining fit and offering my package. I have a great show-up rate and I track my numbers so I’m able to predict how many will turn into paying clients pretty predictably.

Somewhat. Usually my services are purchased through a booking link online or new clients will text/call/email and I’ll talk to them briefly then send them the booking link - although sometimes these people disappear without booking.

I’m not sure, so I guess no? 🤷‍♀️ People contact me and I try to find a time that works for both of us to book a session. I often play phone/email/text tag with leads, and sometimes they ghost or don’t show.

Have you created workflows or procedures for your sales, marketing, client services, and the admin of your business?*

My business has clearly-defined workflows and standard operating procedures for all of those areas. It may not be perfect, but we’re always working on refining and making them better.

I’ve started creating some processes for different parts of my business and if I have employees, I’ve shared them and they’re used regularly.

No, I just do things as I have to do them and I work intuitively.

What percentage of your administration and operations is manual, and what percentage is automated?*

20-30% is manual and the rest is automated

50-70% is manual and the remaining is automated

100% is manually done by me

Do you hire others to do the backend work that’s outside of your skillsets?*

I’ve hired out all the work I shouldn’t be doing myself so I can focus 100% on working with my clients and turning leads into satisfied clients.

I have a contractor or two to help me with things like accounting and legal stuff but the rest I do myself.

I’m doing it all by myself. I’m constantly switching hats.

Do you have lots of time in your schedule for non-business priorities like health, family, leisure, and creative time?*

I’m very strict with my schedule and have built in lots of time for my health, family and leisure. All of my clients know my boundaries around my time and I take frequent vacations and rest days.

I’m doing Ok but I could definitely use some help with fitting in the big things like vacations or continuing education. If something comes up with the business I tend to push aside the other stuff.

I’m booked to the max very frequently and am having to juggle clients to fit them in. I really struggle with finding free time for myself and my priorities outside of work.

Does your business have a clearly-stated company purpose and core values and do you use them to guide your decision-making?*

Yes. We have a clear company mission, purpose and values and I’ve shared them with both clients and employees. I frequently use them to make decisions and guide my outlook in my business.

I’ve heard about that and I have some good ideas around what I’d like them to be. I haven’t taken the time to write them down or figure out how that will look inside my business yet.

No. Doesn’t seem that important to me right now as I’m focused more on getting clients and earning more income.

Have you invested in support like business coaching or consulting to help you grow your business and get the accountability to achieve your goals?*

Yes. I’ve worked with one or more business coaches or consultants to help me grow my business. Each of these investments have definitely helped and I will continue to invest in the future.

I’ve invested in smaller things like online courses and digital products that have helped a little bit. I do see the value in investing in higher levels of support though.

No. I don’t see the need to invest in things like that. I’m motivated enough!
